We just received another phone call from our orphanage representatives. The Orphanage director in Haiti was able to locate someone today that thinks they know Silas' birth mother. That person said she was in the Dominican Republic, but said she returned because she has been ill. They have told the O director where they think she is living and the director will go there tomorrow.
Please continue to pray. They believe they will find her tomorrow. If they do find her - she will then need to go to the USCIS to complete the interview. I still do not understand this process and I feel sorry that Silas' birth mother has to go to an appointment to have an American bombard her with questions about why she has given up her child when she has already signed paperwork and completed what had to be a heartwrenching act when she left him 2 1/2 years ago. I am going to have a letter translated and delivered to her if at all possible about how much we love Silas Jeff. Please pray for her.
I was reading this chapter of Acts today - thinking about Silas and what God will do with his life.
It is an amazing story of God loosing the chains of injustice and using the hardship of one person to draw another to the truth and belief in Jesus Christ.
Acts 16:25-34 (ESV)
The Philippian Jailer Converted
25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, 26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened. 27 When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all here." 29 And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. 30 Then he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" 31 And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family. 34 Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.
Oh Lord, I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress. Psalm 59:16
Keep praising with us! Maybe in the morning we'll feel the earth shake and all the doors for Silas will fly open.
Hoping, Praying, Desiring more of you GOD!
Love to all,
lori
